music monday: common, dear

one of the great things about living in a city is that there is always something to do. this weekend my roommates and i traveled to estes park and spent the day in the rocky mountain national park, hiking and driving around. it’s been cooler with lots of rain and the clouds were beautiful in the mountains.

sunday several of us headed to the laughing goat in boulder for a free concert with friends of a friend from portland (the laughing goat hosts concerts every night of the week). i’m always a bit skeptical about coffee shop concerts – people are too distracted to listen to the music, talk the whole way through, etc. but the laughing goat has a great set-up – the stage is in the back corner of the shop, leaving the front area for those who aren’t exactly there to listen to music.

so, have a listen to “common, dear” – a sweet band from portland. they are finishing up a 6-week tour across the states in conjunction with find your smile. you can check out more of their music at reverbnation.

Excellent. I would have liked to have been there with you to have seen it live.
