you deserve to be warned about the oatmeal pancakes. sigh.
1. do not use any substitutions for buttermilk. period.
2. the pancakes are runny (perhaps due to the fact that i made my own buttermilk. in any case, i had to add another 1/3 cup of flour and another teaspoon of baking soda.)
all that to say, i’ll be sticking with good ol’ betty crocker pancakes (i’m sure i’ll put my own spin on it. i never learn). try them, see what you think, but you’ve been warned.
this christmas i spent a few days in new york with my mom. i love cities, cafes, all the christmas hustle and bustle (not to mention the 4 anthropologies within walking distance of our hotel!), but the highlight was going to the advent service at Redeemer Presbyterian Church. i bought all of tim keller’s books over the holidays and can’t get enough of his teachings. he is an intellectual preacher, but incredibly down to earth. i walk away, my eyes opened to seeing Scripture in a totally new perspective every time i listen or read.
i highly recommend this book – whether you’re a Christian or just curious.
