i felt like a little listening to a little swedish pop today. you can never go wrong with a kazoo!
i am at my parents’ in kansas this week and am headed to indiana to run a half-marathon this weekend with my mom, aunt and cousins. my goal: to live through it. i ran this same half-marathon 8 years ago on my birthday to prove to myself that i could do it. i try to do something new and challenging every year. this past year (in general) has been challenging and who knows what my new challenge for 2012 will be?
any suggestions?

i love belle and sebastian. an indie band from scotland, they have been hailed as one of the most influential bands from the uk. and they provide the perfect springtime soundtrack.

the welcome wagon
it’s not monday, but music is worth sharing any day, isn’t it? the welcome wagon is one of my favorite bands and they have a new album coming out in june. until then though, this will have to tide me (and you) over. the song is beautiful, wistful and i didn’t really want it to end.
life has been busy these days checking craigslist (perhaps my new occupation could include secret craigslist shopper?), finding inspiration on pinterest and continuing to settle into this new home. i’ve gone through gallons of gas, several bottles of spray paint and am getting to know the area quite well through these endeavors. family is coming into town next week and i hope to have a place that is homey and welcoming by then. it may not be new york city, but my doors are open.

i’m perhaps a little prejudiced towards this band: eine blume. the band is composed of my brother-in-law and sister and various friends. but relation or not, their music is filled with vulnerability, beauty and incredible musicality.
